My visual theming was “The popular girl in class’s sweet sixteen, where you’re confused why you were invited, but are too excited to say no.” I wanted the audience to feel like they were being invited to share in the party, and that the decked-out gym of yester year was stretching out to meet them.
One thing I wanted to prioritize in my design was creating separations and Hierarchies within the space. This allowed the director and actresses opportunities to reflect the changing realities within the group's relationships and priorities through blocking.
