For this show I had 6 hours between gaining live programming access to a new space and the start of cue-to-cue. I designed and programmed unique individual looks for 26 musical numbers I had never seen in person and had never been performed in the space by prepping brief notes for each song on mood, content, and notable context. I then created basic template groups that allowed me to quickly change each aspect of the primary lighting groups. The group dance numbers had not been recorded and the cues were developed on the fly during the cue-to-cue and first tech.
One technical challenge was that the lights were all focused for our prior show, a two and a half story rock show which used the apron, a full stage, and exposed lighting. I had to evaluate the usefulness of each and the ease of refocusing before I could make my groups.
